Sustainable Silicon Valley

Sustainable Silicon Valley (SSV) brings together leading tech companies, cities, counties, research, and educational institutions to solve sustainability issues that cannot be solved alone. Founded in 2000, Sustainable Silicon Valley (SSV) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to addressing tough sustainability challenges. Today SSV envisions a Net Positive Bay Area by 2050 where we produce more energy than we consume, sequester more carbon than we emit, and optimize water resources to ensure water resilience. To achieve these goals, SSV facilitates measurable projects, education, events, and policies that deliver solutions by activating SSV’s member network. SSV's current projects include: 1. The Intelligent Water REuse Initiative encourages the optimization of our water resources to increase our water supply so there is enough water for everyone — residents, businesses, and natural habitats. 2. The Net Positive Communities – East Palo Alto Program is working to bring water and energy efficiency to a low income community. 3. The Creating an Ecosystem for a Carbon Balanced Planet workshop is launching SSV's work in carbon. SSV is actively seeking a carbon project. Sustainable Silicon Valley is also: * Educating across communities: Professionals, stakeholders and students. Education is the key to gaining support for water, carbon, and energy issues. * Planning Events: Producing project- related events, such as the annual symposium, to raise awareness and build community; participating in other organizations’ high-profile events, such as CWEA and SVES; and organizing custom events and tours for members. * Supporting Policy: Supporting state bills and helping draft local ordinances and policy. * Creating Projects: Facilitating measurable projects that bring members together to produce tangible solutions.
