The Asian highland shrew (Suncus montanus) is a species of mammal in the family Soricidae. It is found in India and Sri Lanka. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry forests. It is threatened by habitat loss. It is known as ශ්‍රී ලංකා කදු හික් මීයා in Sinhala.

Description

Head and body 9–11 cm. Tail 7 cm. Dark bluish-brown to black above, paler below. Pelage may be bluish-gray at the base. Some adults are reddish brown. Fur soft and velvety. Naked areas are pinkish. Tail is short. It is a very dark looking shrew.
