Strzeszowice [stʂɛʂɔˈvit͡sɛ] (German: Tzschacksdorf, 1937-1945: Schacksdorf) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Trzebiel, within Żary County, Lubusz Voivodeship, in western Poland, close to the German border.[1] It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) east of Trzebiel, 18 km (11 mi) west of Żary, and 55 km (34 mi) south-west of Zielona Góra.
Before 1945 the area was part of Germany (see Territorial changes of Poland after World War II). After World War II and the subsequent border shift, the region was placed under Polish administration and ethnically cleansed according to the post-war Potsdam Agreement. The native German populace was expelled and replaced with Poles.
