Stony Point Fashion Park is an upscale outdoor center in Richmond, Virginia that opened in 2003. It is owned by Starwood Capital and managed by Starwood Retail Partners.
Anchor stores include Dick's Sporting Goods, Dillard's, Saks Fifth Avenue and CineBistro.
Stony Point is the only mall in the region that offers a dog-friendly environment along with comfort stations located throughout the center.
Store selections
Stony Point Fashion Park features many unique-to-the-market retailers, such as Anthropologie, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Brighton Collectibles, CineBistro, Cole Haan, L'Occitane en Provence, Coach, Sur La Table, Hugo Boss, Restoration Hardware, Three Dog Bakery, Yves Delorme, Tiffany & Co., along with many others.
Restaurants and dining
The mall also hosts many fast food and sit-down dining options that include P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Brio Tuscan Grille, CineBistro, Fleming's Prime Steakhouse, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Panera Bread, and Les Crepes. The Cheesecake Factory was originally to come to Stony Point, but instead is located at main rival mall Short Pump Town Center.
Rivalry with Short Pump
The mall was the result of a rivalry between mall developer Taubman Centers and ForestCity, both who sought to build a new upscale center in Richmond. The battle was eventually settled in court, which ultimately saw Taubman building Stony Point, and ForestCity building the rival, two-story Short Pump Town Center, which is nearly two times the size of Stony Point. Short Pump broke ground in November 2000, but Stony Point didn't break ground until February 2002. Stony Point finally opened on September 18, 2003, the day Hurricane Isabel made landfall in nearby Outer Banks.
Notable Events
On October 17, 2014, Taubman Centers sold Stony Point, along with 6 other malls, to Starwood Capital. The transaction for all 7 malls was valued at 1.403 billion.[1]
