Career
Roots
Steve's influencers are Jesus, his father Frank, Dr. Lester Sumrall, and all the Generals of the Faith. Steve's parents founded the Family Christian Center in 1953 and upon their retirement in 1985, Steve was elected pastor. The church was originally located in Hessville, Indiana until the congregation moved to Griffith, Indiana. On Easter 2000, the church moved into a new facility to allow for growth. The venue has doubled in size since then. At nineteen years old, Steve wrote the passion play, "Jesus of Nazareth". Although the play has been used by other churches across the United States, it has a permanent home in the outdoor amphitheatre in Puyallup, Washington and a second home in Munster, Indiana, at the Family Christian Center. Because of the popularity of "Jesus of Nazareth", Family Christian Center has seen increase in many facets of ministry throughout the years. Steve uses visual arts often to minister to the body of Christ and to the unsaved.
Fruit
Today, Steve speaks to more than 10,000 people per week at Family Christian Center. During the 2016 Easter season, thousands of people saw "Jesus of Nazareth" at the Munster, Indiana venue.
Both The Wall Street Journal and New York Times magazine have featured Steve as a spokesperson on key issues concerning Jews and Israel and he also appears regularly on several Christian television programs.
Time magazine, People magazine, Ladies Home Journal and Fox News have spotlighted the Starbucks café in the lobby of the Family Christian Center.
