Steamin' + Dreamin' 2: Cash Back is a 2011 Irish independent comedy film, and the sequel to 2009's Steamin' + Dreamin': The Grandmaster Cash Story.[1] The film was directed by Brendan Canty, who co-wrote the screenplay with Con Doyle, Conor Stanley, and Joe Kiely. Doyle, Stanley and Kiely reprise their roles from the first film. Like its predecessor, Steamin' + Dreamin' 2: Cash Back is a mockumentary following the fates of Cork rappers Grandmaster Cash and Dr. Feekinstein, and features appearances from Tony Hadley, The Rubberbandits, and Hardy Bucks among others.

Synopsis

Having put aside their differences at the end of the previous film, Grandmaster Cash and Dr. Feekinstein have grown to prominence on the Irish music scene. While promoting his debut novel, Grandmaster Cash and the Lazerwolvez, Cash is approached by Cian 'Hollywood' Norris, a Cork native working as an agent in London. Inviting Feekinstein to join him, and enlisting Seamus Kelly to again document their adventures, Cash attempts to make it as an international hip-hop artist.[2]

Cast

Production

Following the success of the first film, it was decided to produce a sequel that would trace Grandmaster Cash and Dr. Feekinstein after their union as they rose to fame. The film was shot in locations around Cork as well as London, where the majority of the film is set.[3]

Marketing

The first promo for the film was released on YouTube on July 13, 2010, and featured Grandmaster Cash and Dr Feekinstein enjoying their newfound success.[4]
A second promotional video was released on June 16, 2011, revealing the sequel's title as Steamin' + Dreamin' 2: Cashback[5]
On July 13, 2011, a third promotional video was released, featuring Grandmaster Cash parodying the styles of 1970s cop shows such as Starsky and Hutch. The promo was entitled Tango and Cash, and features Cash fighting crime with the aid of the soft drink Tango in the vein of Popeye and spinach. [6] The film's official trailer was released on October 30.[7]

Release

Steamin' + Dreamin' 2: Cash Back premiered at the 2011 Cork Film Festival on November 9.[8][9][10][11]
