Snow White (band)
Snow White were a band from London, UK. Their members consist of Olly Parker (vocals), Ewan Russell (Guitar), Adam Barr (bass) and Ryan Barkataki (drums). They formed roughly in 2004. Details are sketchy as to when and where but it is believed the band performed first in late 2004.
According to the NME they were influenced by US noise band Sonic Youth and UK satirist Chris Morris. Their site lists other influences such as Dinosaur Jr. and My Bloody Valentine.
In the time that they were together, the band supported (or were supported by) bands such as The Kills, Forward Russia, The Young Knives, Neil's Children, The Long Blondes and the Nine Black Alps.[1]
Their first two singles were published by the Virgin V2 label, under the imprint name Click Click Bang, with their EP being funded by White Heat Records.
In spite of appearing in publications like the NME and Dazed & Confused, as well as playing high-profile gigs for Vice magazine, the band issued a statement that they would not be playing any more gigs on their website in December 2005.
After splitting, Olly DJ'd at the London Club White Heat[2] and now moonlights as a Labour politician, while Ryan was the drummer for Lightspeed Champion in 2007 but now is jobbing for various London bands.[3]
