Shambhunath is a municipality in Saptari District in the Sagarmatha Zone of south-eastern Nepal. Merging the existing Khoksar Parbaha, Shambhunath, Mohanpur, Bhangha, Basbalpur and Rampur Jamuwa village development committees, this new municipality was formed on 18 May 2014.[1][2] Kathauna Bazar is now finally head office of this new municipality . At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 30207 people living in 5817 individual households.
Temples
Shambhunath
Shambhunath (शम्भुनाथ) is another one of the famous temples of Eastern Nepal. In the temple largest Shivling(शिवलिङ) is Placed. In long time ago it was bring from Chandrabhoga chure hill, when it was small size. It is situated in Shambhunath Municipality, Saptari, 12 km from Rajbiraj and also near to Mahendra Highway(In south,By foot 1 min.) . This Temple is a main attraction for Nepal and Indian Pilgrims. People are likely to come here in Bada Dashain . During month of Baisakh (The first month of Bikram Sambat) the people are celebrate here with joy and happiness.
