Seal of Salt Lake City
The Seal of Salt Lake City is Salt Lake City government's official seal.
Design
The seal portrays the Salt Lake City and County Building, which has been the seat of Salt Lake City government since it was built in 1894. Below the building is the date 1847, which is the year that the first company of 143 Mormon pioneers including Brigham Young settled present-day Salt Lake City. Washington Square, the site of the City and County Building, was coincidentally the first campsite of these pioneers.
