Salt Lake School is a co-educational school situated in Salt Lake City, Kolkata, India.
History
The school started in 1979. Salt Lake School (English medium) was funded by the government of West Bengal to cater to the needs of the population of Salt Lake City.
On 1 September 1981, the management of the school was handed over to Salt Lake School Society, formed by the guardians, teachers and staff members of the school. The school is affiliated to the Council for The Indian School Certificate Examinations. Students are prepared for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate Examination (ISC).
The school has classes from pre-primary (4+) level to class XII. Its first batch of students appeared for the ICSE exam in March 1987 and for the ISC. Exam in 1991. The school continues to be under the general supervision and guidance of the Deputy Director of School Education (Anglo-Indian), government of West Bengal.
Houses
The school has four houses:
- Sunflower (responsible for social service),
- Lily (responsible for discipline and beautification),
- Bluebells (responsible for cultural activity),
- Rose (responsible for creative writing).
All students and teachers are divided into the four houses.There are two prefects and two vice presidents for each house.
