Yakuza 6: The Song of Life (Japanese: 龍が如く6 命の詩。, lit. "Like a Dragon 6: Poetry of Life")[1] is an upcoming open world action-adventure video game developed and published by Sega for the PlayStation 4. The game is the seventh main entry in the Yakuza series of action-adventure games,[2][3][4][5] and will be released in Japan in December 2016.[6]

Gameplay

Yakuza 6 is an open world action-adventure game and will be similar to that of other Yakuza titles with exploration mixed with arcade style over the top combat. There is demo gameplay showcasing this. As of yet the playable characters and locations of the game (aside from Kamurocho) are unknown with one exception listed below.

Plot

As Kazuma Kiryu returns to the criminal underworld after Haruka's revelation of Kiryu as the former chairman and Yakuza head. Haruka had hoped to retire from the life of being an idol and return to Asagao Orphanage. When one of the patriarchs of a rising Tojo clan sets fire to Little Asia and hospitalizes Haruka, Kiryu is forced to fight one last time to protect the Tojo clan he knows as rivals seek to reform the clan in a bloody fashion.

Development

Yakuza 6 was announced on 15 September 2015 at the Tokyo Game Show during the Sony conference, exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and with a release date of "Autumn 2016".[5] Toshihiro Nagoshi of Sega confirmed that more details would be revealed during the rest of the event.[5] A traditional Chinese localisation has been announced for the Asia region.[7] Beat Takeshi has been announced as a character within the game.[8] The game will also feature New Japan Pro Wrestling wrestlers Hiroshi Tanahashi, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Kazuchika Okada, Satoshi Kojima, Tetsuya Naito and Toru Yano.[9]

Yakuza 6 will include Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, Puyo Puyo, Out Run, Super Hang-On, Space Harrier, and Fantasy Zone as playable games in the form of basic play spots. Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown and Puyo Puyo will include two-player modes as well. [10]

Reception

The game received a score of 39/40 from the video game magazine Famitsu.[11]
