Rose is an IBA official cocktail made of vermouth, cherry eau de vie (Kirsch) and fruit syrup (strawberry, raspberry or redcurrant).[1][2] Some recipes include cherry liqueur and gin.[3]
The Rose cocktail was popular in 1920's Paris and was created by Johnny Mitta, barman at the Chatham Hotel.[4][5][6] A recipe for it can be found in a 1927 book by Harry McElhone, owner of Harry's New York Bar in Paris.[7]
