The Rosario Formation or Rosario Group is a Late Cretaceous epoch geologic formation in southwestern California (U.S.) and northwestern Baja California (México).
The Rosario Group includes the Point Loma Formation and Cabrillo Formation subunits in San Diego County, California.
The sedimentary structures of the Rosario Formation apparently were formed in a nearshore shelf environment, probably a local embayment.
Fossils
It preserves fossils dating back to the Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic Era.
