Robert G. Bednarik

Robert G. Bednarik (born 6 April 1944 in Vienna) is an Australian prehistorian and cognitive archeologist.

In 1967 Robert Bednarik moved from Austria to Australia. Bednarik, who considers himself an autodidact, is expert for research on rock art and paleolithic portable art on the ice age. He is doing experimental archeology and is editor of four scientific journals. According to Bednarik he published more than 1300 scientific articles since 1965. He is professor at the International Centre of Rock Art Dating (ICRAD) at the Hebei Normal University in Shijiazhuang (China).^[1]

Bednariks main research interest is in the origins of the human ability to create constructs of reality. Therefore the beginnings of art,^[2] and language, and technological developments ^[3] are in the focus of his research.
