Renato Mazzoncini is the CEO of the Italian Railway company Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Spa.[1] He was elected vice-president of the International Union of Railways (UIC) in the December the 1st (2015).

Biography

He was born in 1968 in Brescia, he has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan (1992). He has taken part, between 1995 and 2000, in a project team set up by Ansaldo Transporti for the realization of Copenhagen's automatic metro. In 1997, he was called to head the private bus transport company Autoguidovie (Ranza Group), of which he became director in 1998.

He was CEO and General Director of Autoguidovie (Ranza group) and CEO and Chairman of Ataf Gestioni (2012-2015) and CEO of Busitalia (2012-2015), a branch of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group (2012-2015).

Critics

Renato Mazzoncini was criticized in early 2016 because he wasn't able to partial privatise the Italian Railway company Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane. For this reason he has been interviewed multiple times about the possibility of the privatisation of the company but he wasn't able to give more details.[2]

He was also criticized because he didn't sent the annual industrial plan of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Spa company to its shareholders.[3] He announced that the annual industrial plan will be ready by summer 2016.
