Regions of the Northern Territory
Regions of the Northern Territory - include the five official regions in the Territory in Australia:[1]
- Darwin
- East Arnhem Land - Nhulunbuy
- Katherine
- Barkly - Tennant Creek
- Central - Alice Springs
Usage is common for the term Top End - incorporating the Darwin and Arnhem Land regions, and of Central Australia being used for the Central region.
Earlier less specific terms have been used - the 'wild regions',[2] 'coastal regions' [3] and 'unsettled' regions [4]
A number of deserts, and ecological regions cross boundaries from the Northern Territory into Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland.
