Randy Petalcorin. (born Randy Formentera Petalcorin; December 31, 1991) is a Filipino professional boxer from the Sanman gym in General Santos, Philippines. He defeated Walter Tello at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China on August 26, 2014 to win the WBA Interim World light flyweight Title.[1]
Professional career
Randy Petalcorin fights in the light flyweight category and has the nickname "Ultra Tune" after the Australian car service franchise[2] that sponsor him and fought in Melbourne, Australia on Peter Maniatis promotions in 2013 and 2014 training at the Boxingfit Gym in Port Melbourne.
Petalcorin won the WBA Light Flyweight World Title against Walter Tello in the seventh round by Knockout in Shanghai, China in front of 15.000 strong crowd on a Top Rank promoted card with Hall of Fame Promoter Bob Arum ringside also in attendance cheering on Petalcorin was fellow Filipino boxer and 8-division World Champion Manny Pacquiao who jumped into the ring once Petalcorin Won the WBA World Title to congratulate him.
Petalcorin is now training in Melbourne using a high altitude training scheme with his co-sponsors Altitude Services, led by Rod Cedaro.[3] He is preparing for his first defense of his WBA Interim world light-flyweight title on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao’s next superfight.
On the 24th April 2015 in Beijing, Randy Petalcorin won his title fight against Ma Yi Ming in the first round at 1.45 by knockout.[4]
