Rafael Amaya (Spanish pronunciation: [aˈmaʝa]; born José Rafael Amaya Núñez on February 28, 1977 in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico) is a Mexican actor, singer and model.[1]
Biography
Amaya was born February 28, 1977 in Hermosillo, Sonora but, after five years, he and his family moved to Tecate, Baja California. Since he was a small boy, Amaya excelled in a wide variety of sports. As a teenager, Amaya took classes in theater and music. After finishing high school, he traveled to San Diego, California to study at a local university. He returned to Mexico and started playing with various music groups, and it was with "Almalafa," that he went to live in Mexico City. Of all the band members, Amaya was the only one who stayed in the city where he devoted his career to modeling.
Then came the Centre for arts education Televisa, where he found the opportunity to make the casting of a new group, Garibaldi. Amaya split with Garibaldi, to do some acting work on his own. It began with the novella "The House on the Beach" with the character of Romualdo, and then continuing with the novel "Conceived Without Sin" in the role of Castulo.
Career
2000–09: Early work
In January 2002, he began his third and most exciting project, He starred in the soap opera "Salome" with the role of one of the main characters, Julian Joseph, the hero and the son of Salome, the main protagonist. It was in this soap opera, that Rafael become Well known as an actor. Next, he starred in "The rails of Love" with the dual role of Paco who was the catalyst for a good and important fabric of the soap opera, and after a while made the character of Paul (a brother of Paco). Still on the list of soap operas, we have "to love again" that was launched in the U.S. and originally known as "bouquet of Illusions," Amaya did the role of Fernando.
His most recent involvement is currently in "Two Sides of Ana" (Las Dos Caras de Ana) where Amaya takes the leading role of the same character that bears his name, Rafael. It is currently filming in Miami, Florida in the United States. In February 2002, Amaya won the nomination for "Men's revelation" in the delivery of "the Herald" and in June the same year was re-nominated at the Awards for TVyNovelas in the same category.
Amaya has also ventured into the big screen. His first experience was in the film "Naked" (Desnudos), a romantic comedy based on the play known as "Four X", he performs a frontal nudity. The second film he is set to do is "So the precipice," where he acts as a gay man, performing a masturbation scene.[2]
2010–present
Amaya in the 2010 dabbled in short films, and has participated in several films such as Rock Marí, Sin memoria, Adiós mundo cruel, Atrocious and La ruleta de los sueños. Later it was the co-prtoagonist of the soap opera La piel azul where played Fernando, and he was the antagonist of the telenovela Alguien te mira where played Julián García and shared credit with Christian Meier and Danna García.
In 2011, it had a participation in the telenovela La Reina del Sur, and shared credit with Kate del Castillo, while the soap opera was in production, the actor traveled to Spain, to participate in two Spanish series, such as Hospital Central and Doctor Mateo, where he took part in several episodes as main cast of both series.
In 2013, he participated in the television movie Meddling Mom, which was recorded in 2012. In January 2013, the actor began production the television series El Señor de los Cielos, which he had 2 seasons and interpreted to Aurelio Casillas "El Señor de los Cielos". The series has won an International Emmys in 2014.[3][4] Amaya was also a winner as best actor in the Premios Tu Mundo 2014.[5]
On September 23, 2014 he appeared in the television series Señora Acero, where played Aurelio Casillas, Amaya only participated in 2 episodes with Blanca Soto and Damián Alcázar.[6]
