The purple-throated sunbird (Leptocoma sperata), is a species of bird in the Nectariniidae family. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests of India, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
The Van Hasselt's sunbird was previously considered conspecific.
