Protectorate General to Pacify Beiting
The Protectorate General of Beiting was a Chinese military outpost established by the Tang Dynasty to control the Beiting area (modern Ürümqi), to Gaochang's north in 702.[1]

The Protectorate-General of Beiting ("Northern Court") was established by the Tang in 702 just to the north of Qocho. . . It was known to the Turkic peoples as Beshbaliq, "Five Cities.". . . Beshbaliq was also a major power center of the Western Uighurs.
