Producers Guild of America Award for Best Animated Motion Picture
The Producers Guild of America Award for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures is an award annually given since 2005.
Six out of 11 PGA Best Animated Motion Pictures won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
About the Award
Before the Producers Guild of America handed the first outstanding award on animation, animated feature films compete against live-action films in Best Theatrical Motion Picture. Six animated feature films were nominated in this category:
- 1989 The Little Mermaid (lost to Driving Miss Daisy)
- 1991 Beauty and the Beast (lost to The Silence of the Lambs)
- 1994 The Lion King (lost to Forrest Gump)
- 1995 Toy Story (lost to Apollo 13)
- 2001 Shrek (lost to Moulin Rouge!)
- 2004 The Incredibles (lost to The Aviator)
After the inception of Best Animated Motion Picture award, animated films can still compete in Best Theatrical Motion Picture. Two animated feature films were nominated since 2005:
- 2009 Up (lost to The Hurt Locker)
- 2010 Toy Story 3 (lost to The King's Speech)
