Pranav Mohanlal is an Indian film actor and assistant director. He is the son of actor Mohanlal. He won the 2002 Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist for his role in the film Punarjani directed by Major Ravi.[1] Pranav made his debut with a guest appearance in the film Onnaman (2002), directed by Thampi Kannamthanam. Since a cameo in Sagar Alias Jackie Reloaded (2009), Pranav has kept a distance from the film industry. Later Pranav was assistant director to two of Jeethu Joseph's films, Papanasam and Life of Josutty.[2]

Personal life

Pranav Mohanlal was born in Trivandrum, Kerala, as the son of film actor Mohanlal and his wife Suchitra Mohanlal. He has a younger sister named Vismaya. Pranav's maternal-grandfather is the Tamil producer K. Balaji. Pranav completed his schooling from the Hebron School, Ooty. He graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Pranav maintains a low-profile lifestyle.

Career

In 2002, Pranav made his film debut as a child artist in a guest appearance in Onnaman directed Thampi Kannanthanam starring Mohanlal, he played the younger version of the character played by his father. In the same year, he made his debut as actor in Major Ravi's Punarjani. He won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist for his role in the film. In 2014, Pranav returned to film industry as an assistant director with director Jeethu Joseph in the Tamil film Papanasam starring Kamal Hassan, which is a remake of Mohanlal film Drishyam. He then assisted him and showed face in the Malayalam film Life of Josutty (2015).

On September 30, 2016 Mohanlal announced that Pranav would be making his acting debut in Jeethu Joseph's new thriller movie which would be produced by Antony Perumbavoor.[3]
