Poovathussery is a village in the Thrissur district of Kerala, India.[1] It is a border village between Thrissur and Ernakulam districts of Kerala. It is situated on the banks of Chalakudy River.It is a lovely village full of paddys and cocount trees. Most of the people are farmers.

Poovathussery hosts The Poovathussery Karthyayini temple which is one of the 108 Durga Temples. It also contains the St Joseph Church.
