Polytechnic University of the Philippines Santo Tomas, officially as Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Santo Tomas, Batangas Branch (PUP–STB) (translated in Filipino: Politeknikong Unibersidad ng Pilipinas Santo Tomas, Batangas and commonly abbreviated as P.U.P.) is one of the branch campuses of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines located in Santo Tomas, Batangas. PUP–STB was established through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between former PUP President Nemesio Prudente and the Municipal Government of Santo Tomas under Leopoldo Laurel Jr. in 1991.[2] PUP–STB is the only academic institution in Santo Tomas which acts as the community college and serves other municipalities in Batangas and Laguna province.
Campus
The campus of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Santo Tomas is located inside the municipal center of Santo Tomas, Batangas adjacent to the Municipal Hall and the Public Market with an estimated land area of 1.2 hectares. The campus lies beside the defunct Batangas Intercity Railway. Because of the geographical location of the campus, it can serve both the nearby municipalities and cities in Batangas province and Laguna Province and also is the largest campus of PUP in Southern Luzon.
Main Building (MB)
The Main Building(also known as Admin Building) and now named Leopoldo Laurel, Jr. Building is a two-storey building located at the west of the campus. It houses most of the administration offices which are the Student Affairs and Services Section, the Admissions and Registrar's Office, and the Administrative Office. The IT Laboratory, ECE Laboratory, and the Horton Function Room are also located here.
New Building (NB)
The New Building is a 4-storey and largest building located at the east side of the campus. Almost all the departments and colleges are located here—College of Engineering, College of Accountancy and Finance, College of Computer and Information Science, College of Tourism, Hospitality and Transportation Management, College of Social Sciences and Development, and Institute of Technology. Also some administrative offices—the Collecting & Disbursing Office, Accounting Office, and Cashiers Office. Campus Library, EE Laboratory and IE Laboratory are located here also.
Cultural Building (CB)
The Cultural Building is 3-storey building located right behind the entrance of the campus. The Cultural Hall, the College of Education, the offices of the cultural organizations, the ROTC office, the PUP Sto. Tomas Varsity locker room and the Cafeteria are situated here. The Office of the Branch Director is also located here.
PUP Santo Tomas Gymnasium
The PUP Sto. Tomas Gymnasium is where all the P.E. classes are held. It also serves as the event center of the PUP Santo Tomas community and other neighboring institutions in Santo Tomas.
Octagon Building
The Octagon Building is an octagonal shaped building located behind the Main Building. It houses the Dental Clinic and the Medical Clinic on the first floor, and the second floor or the roof top serves as a venue open for students' use.

History
In June 10, 1989 marks the history of PUP, it is the date when Hon. Leopoldo M. Laurel,Jr., Municipal Mayor of Santo Tomas envisioned the dreams of establishing a branch in the town by sending a letter of interest and appreciation to Dr. Nemesio E. Prudente, President of PUP. Dr. Dante G. Guevarra initiated the proposal. A deed of donation for a one hectare municipal land was done through Resolution No. 89-18 following the groundbreaking rites on the 28th of January 1991.
The first office of the director of PUP Santo Tomas was located at the Santo Tomas municipal building and later transferred to the one-story building that also housed the first batch of students, the Lions Club Building.
In school year 1992-1993, the branch accepted the first batch of students with a total number of 292. The courses offered during the year were: Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Accountancy, Bachelor of Computer Data Processing Management, Bachelor of Office Administration and Bachelor of Electronic and Communication Engineering.
The University offered not only a challenge during those years but a branch of strong members who enjoy the bounties of academic freedom but is aware of their perpetual toil and responsibilities set upon their shoulder towards the students.[3]
On March 2001, an act passed by the Congress, the R.A. No. 9045,[4] or the act which creates the Batangas State University by integrating different public higher education institutions in Batangas province including PUP Santo Tomas. This led to the protest of the PUP Santo Tomas community not to be part of the Batangas State University, for students of the PUP Santo Tomas will lose the privilege to study at the cheapest cost. The university officials together with faculty, staff and students blocked the entry of the BSU officials into the campus. They also petitioned to the congress to amend R.A. 9045[4] excluding to its coverage the PUP Santo Tomas.
In May 2007, R.A. 9472 [5] was ratified("AN ACT AMENDING REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9045, WHICH CREATES THE BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY (BSU) BY EXCLUDING FROM ITS COVERAGE THE POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES (PUP) CAMPUS IN STO. TOMAS, BATANGAS")
To this date the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Santo Tomas is still part of the PUP System and students enjoys the 12 pesos per unit tuition fee.
Mandate
Presidential Decree No.1341 mandated the PUP to expand the program offerings of the University to include courses in polytechnic areas and has also given the University the authority to expand diametrically through the establishment of branches, consortia and linkages.

Undergraduate Studies
College of Accountancy and Finance (CAF)
The College of Accountancy and Finance (CAF) one of the first degree granting units when the branch was founded. It offers a bachelor's degree in Accountancy (BSA) where it set standards to each students' academic performance and one producers of the best accountants in the region, though the passing rate in licensure exam is not that high. The program is composed of subjects in accounting (financial, public, managerial), audit, administration, business laws and taxation. Its primary focus is not limited to business subjects, but to other fields as well, such as banking and finance, government, social services, education, and more. The program also teaches students to integrate information technology concepts into business systems, in order to create a more systematic and organized way of storing business related data. As a student, you will be taught computerized accounting systems, and basic understanding of computer programming and auditing systems. The program also instills in students the importance of computational and communication skills both in written and oral English. The BS Accounting program is taught in a variety of teaching methods such as case analysis, individual and group reports, simulations, classroom discussions and guest lecturers. It also includes extensive exposures to business immersions (an internship where there is a probability that the company will hire/absorb you after graduation) and an on-the-job training that will provide you with the understanding of practical accountancy.
College of Business Administration (CBA)
The College of Business Administration (CBA) first offered a bachelor's degree in Office Administration and replacing it with bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurial Management (BSEM) and now offers bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship (BSEnt) for incoming students, that produces future business managers and business owners. It is a four-year course offered in the College of Business Administration, designed to provide undergraduate students an in-depth understanding and appreciation of new venture operations in small business enterprises. It aims to equip young students with entrepreneurial spirit to realize a vibrant and developing economy in the hands of the Filipinos and develop desirable qualities of leadership, social concern and moral values among them.
College of Computer and Information Sciences (CCIS)
The College of Computer and Information Sciences (CCIS) started offering bachelor's degree in Computer Data Processing, replacing it with bachelor's degree in Computer Science and now confers a bachelor's degree in Information Technology (BSIT) where it concentrate on the business and communication applications of computing. The program is a four-year degree program which focuses on the study of computer utilization and computer software to plan, install, customize, operate, manage, administer and maintain information technology infrastructure. It likewise deals with the design and development of computer-based information systems for real-world business solutions. The program prepares students to become IT professionals with primary competencies in the areas of systems analysis and design, applications development, database administration, network administration, and systems implementation and maintenance. The program also requires a Capstone project. It should be in the form of an IT applications development as a business solution for an industry need.
College of Education (CoEd)
The College of Education (CoEd) offers bachelor's degrees in Business Teacher Education (BBTE) and Secondary Education (BSEd) majors in either English (BSEd-EN), Social Studies (BSEd-SS) and Mathematics (BSEd-MT). It is one of the pioneer academic disciplines of the University dating back to the birth of the Manila Business School (MBS) in 1904.
The Bachelor of Business Teacher in Education (BBTE) is a four-year degree program with specializations in Business Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLE). This specialization prepares students to teach specific courses effectively across the learning areas in elementary, secondary, college, and vocational/technical schools. For BBTE-BTLE, the office and business technology courses are: Office Procedures, Keyboarding, Shorthand, Bookkeeping and Accounting, Business Mathematics, Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Merchandising, and Computer Education; the livelihood education courses are: Home Technology, Food and Nutrition, Cosmetology, Basic Drafting, Basic Electricity, Basic Electronics, Plumbing, and Carpentry and Masonry.
The Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English (BSEd-EN) is a four-year program that is an excellent preparation for a career in English teaching in high school and for advancement in any field in which English communication and teaching skills are important.
The Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies (BSEd-SS) is a curricular program designed to prepare students to teach social studies subjects in secondary schools. It is one of the programs of the University envisioned to develop graduates who are nationalistic, responsive, and productive citizens who will contribute to national and global unity.
The Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics (BSEd-MT) is a four-year undergraduate program designed to meet the country’s need for teachers in mathematics education in the secondary level. This program provides students with the theoretical insights, specialized knowledge of educational technology, teaching-learning applications, and integration of values that will enhance professional and personal development.
College of Engineering (CE)
The College of Engineering (CE) offers bachelor's degrees in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Electronics Engineering (BSECE), and Industrial Engineering (BSIE), that produces quality graduates, sustaining the legacy of the branch of making excellence in Engineering, for having high passing rates in Board Examinations and producing future Engineers. It is one of the constituent colleges of the University.
The Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering (BSECE) develops engineers with sufficient background in mathematics, natural/physical sciences and tool courses in engineering that are necessary to solve problems in the field of Electronics Engineering. It is composed of academic units in Mathematics, Natural/Physical Sciences, Basic Engineering Sciences, Allied Courses, Professional Electronics Engineering Courses, Elective Courses, Social Sciences, Humanities, Languages, Mandated Course, Physical Education, and National Training Service Program.
The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering program provides combined technical knowledge and skills among students in the field of electricity. The program prepares students for a professional electrical engineering career who will take leading roles in electrical designs, supervision of electrical installation, operation and maintenance of electrical equipments. A strong foundation in basic science and mathematics are needed.
The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) is a five-year baccalaureate degree program offered in the College of Engineering (CE). Industrial Engineering as a name is used in industry, commerce, and government maybe the broadcast of all the modern management functions that if consists of all engineering and management control activities that cannot be clearly designated as a part of other engineering or accounting functions. It is a large umbrella that includes a wide variety of task established for the purpose of designing, implementing and maintaining management system for effective operations. The department prognosticates its graduates as professionals with high level of competitive in all facets of production/manufacturing systems, operation research, human factor, time and motion, and production design. Moreover, the graduates will primarily concerned with the design, improvement and installation of the integrated systems of man, materials, capital and equipment, drawing upon knowledge and skills from mathematical, physical and social sciences. The course likewise deals with human relations, management, system and design, cost estimates, and financial analysis. The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) curriculum consists of total of 214 units, 70 units of which complies by general education courses; 40 units for allied and engineering sciences courses; 85 units for IE professional courses miscellany of 8 units and 12 units dealing with one of the three specialization of the IE profession. These are Production Engineering, Operations Research, Analysis, Organization and Decision Making.
College of Social Sciences and Development (CSSD)
The College of Social Sciences and Development (CSSD) founded as College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Psychology in 1997 and in 2012, in accordance to the change of name of its college in the Main Branch in Santa Mesa, Manila, the branch also changed its name to its present state. It first offered Associate in Applied Psychology in 1997, replacing it with bachelor's degree in Industrial Psychology (BSIP) then later offered bachelor's degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology (BSIOP) and now offers bachelor's degree in Psychology (BSPsy) having two areas of study, Clinical Psychology and Industrial Psychology, where it will produce future Licensed Psychologists or Psychometricians and also Human Resource Managers and Specialists. The Bachelor of Science in Psychology is designed to prepare students towards a scientific understanding of human behavior. Students will have the experiences in psychological evaluation, research work and community involvement. It also prepares the student for graduate work.
College of Tourism, Hospitality and Transportation Management (CTHTM)
The College of Tourism, Hospitality and Transportation Management (CTHTM) started as College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, Department of Hotel and Restaurant Management, started offering bachelor's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM) and now offers bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management (BSHM) and where it helps produce future hoteliers and entrepreneurs. The Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management is a ladderized program that prepares students to have employable skills/competencies at every academic year level for them to be competitive in the hospitality industry locally and globally. This also prepares the students to be entrepreneurs. This curriculum includes laboratory experiences as well as local or international internship requirement in the industry.

Institute of Technology (ITech)
The Institute of Technology (ITech) (ITECH, formerly the PUP College of Technology, PUP Technical School and Technical and Entrepreneurial Skills Development Center) offers diploma programs with ladderized curriculum that leads to BS degrees, TESDA National Certificate and PRC licensure. The PUP ITECH focuses on the integration of technology and skills development to its students. It is the technical school of the university where it focuses on the integration of technology and skills development to its students. It offers three-year diploma in Office Management (DOMT), Information Communication Technology (DICT), Electronics Communications Engineering Technology (DECET), and Electrical Engineering Technology (DEET).
The Diploma in Office Management Technology of the Computer and Office Management Department is a Diploma (Ladderized) Program leading to BS degrees, TESDA National Certificate and PRC licensure. The program prepares students for a career in office management, particularly in a medical or legal office, in the shortest possible time.
The Diploma in Information Communication Technology of the Computer and Office Management Department is a Diploma (Ladderized) Program leading to BS degrees, TESDA National Certificate and PRC licensure. The program aims to prepare students to design, implement, and manage a variety of computer-based information systems.
The Diploma in Electronics Communications Engineering Technology of Engineering Technology Department is a Diploma (Ladderized) Program leading to BS degrees, TESDA National Certificate and PRC licensure. The program aims to prepare students for entry-level, technology-based occupations related to the electrical engineering field and to ready them for entry-level occupations related to the electronics communications engineering field.
The Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology of Engineering Technology Department is a Diploma (Ladderized) Program leading to BS degrees, TESDA National Certificate and PRC licensure. The program aims to prepare students for entry- level, technology-based occupations related to the electrical engineering field and to ready them for Master Electrician Registration (RME - Registered Master Electrician) from the Professional Regulation Commission.

The Open University (OU) or the Pamantasang Bayan the distance studies program or also known as the PUP Graduate School of PUP Santo Tomas that offers master's degree in Educational Management (MEM), and Public Administration (MPA). The PUP Graduate School provides advanced professional studies and research in specialized fields leading to doctorate and master's degree programs for professionals. The Master in Public Administration (MPA) is a graduate degree program offered to students and professionals whose interest is to work for, engage in and lead towards the development, promotion and advancement of effective, efficient, and efficacious public organizations and administration. Board of Regents
PUP's Board of Regents is the governing body of the university. Members of the board include University President, the Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education, and the Chairpersons of the Committees of Higher Education of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Board of Regents appoints and elects the president of the university, who is considered the chief executive officer of the institution. The Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) serves as the Chief Chairperson while the president of the university serves as the Co-Chairperson. The Chairpersons of the Committees of Higher Education of the Senate and the House of Representatives functions as committee chairpersons.

Executive Officials
The President of the University exercises the overall leadership in ensuring that the University's efforts are directed towards the attainment of the institutional vision, mission, goals and objectives of PUP. The President works in partnership with his Executive President and six sectoral Vice Presidents, namely: Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs, Administration, Finance, Research, Extension, Planning and Development, Student Services and Branches and Campuses. Each of the Vice Presidents is assisted by directors and other officials for the effective implementation of their functions. Since the PUP is a system of ten branch units and eleven campus units (or also known as LGU units), the Executive Directors of different campuses and branches assist the University President in the supervision of the campus activities through Vice President of Branches and Campuses.

Branch Administrative Officials
P.U.P. Santo Tomas, Batangas Branch is the fifth oldest in branch units and also fifth oldest in the whole system and is the second largest, in terms of land area, in Southern Luzon branches and campuses of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. The Polytechnic University of the Philippines is governed by the Board of Regents' 13 members, of whom chaired by the Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and vice-chaired by the President of the University, and 10 members, 2 of which is the Chairperson of the Committees of Higher Education of the Senate and Chairperson of the Commission on Education, Arts and Culture of the House of Representatives. They are concurrent with their functions as committee chairpersons. 2 of the BOR's are Private Sector Representatives, 3 are PUP Presidents of the federations of associations inside the University, 1 University Board Secretary and the rest are Board Members. Each branch/campus of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines is headed by a Director. Dr. Armando A. Torres is again currently the head of Santo Tomas, Batangas Branch. Apart from heading the branch, the director also holds administrative duties that represents the branch in the different academic and non-academic representations in the whole system. The Academic Head is the second highest supervising body of the branch which focuses on different scholastic procedures that students are involved. The Big 2
The BIG 2 are the two major organizations in the branch that is spearheaded by students and it's officiating members. This organizations are the official student representation and student publication of the university. They are headed by the President for the Central Student Council and Editor-in-Chief for the The Searcher.
Central Student Council (CSC)
The Central Student Council of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Santo Tomas, Batangas (or simply CSC) is the official student representative body of one of the branches/campuses of the Philippines' first polytechnic university. As such, it represents the interests of the students within and outside the University. The Central Student Council, also known as CSC, exists to represent PUP students in various affairs of the University, acting as the voice of students in the local, national, and international issues.
As the highest student representative body in the university, the CSC is composed of members elected amongst the student body, mandated to organize and direct campaigns and activities to defend and promote students’ rights, and improve the students’ general welfare. Furthermore, it provides direct services to the student body. The CSC has the proud and historic tradition of active involvement in and out the campus for the welfare of every student.
The Council's incumbent President is Kirby S. Palla, a fourth year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics of College of Education.

The Searcher (The Official Student Publication)
The Searcher is the official student publication of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Santo Tomas, Batangas Branch, and one of the highest student organization in the campus . It is more commonly known to PUP students as Searcher. It is known for its radical, often anti-administration views, and often gives critical views on the policies of the PUP administration and the Philippine government. The organization's mission is: To adhere the truth and to defend the will and right of every students thus despising corruption and irregularity of the system.
The Publication's incumbent Editor-In-Chief for two years is Reijandro C. Gonzales, a second year Psychology student from the College of Social Sciences and Development.

This are the organizations built by students for academic and non-academic affairs. Academic organizations or also called as "Course Organizations", are the backbone of every course for they stand and represent their program in different academic affairs inside the campus and sometimes outside campus activities. Cultural organizations are mirrors of talents of a Tomasinong Iskolar. They're one of the active organizations in the campus that brings entertainment and joy to every student, and brings pride for the branch.
Himig Batangan
Himig Batangan, also known as the "Himig", it is the official chorale and singing group of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Santo Tomas, Batangas Branch. They perform inside and outside the campus for entertainment and also for the development of their natural talents.
Indak Batangan
Indak Batangan also known as the Indak, is one of the major performing cultural groups based in the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Santo Tomas, Batangas Branch. Indak is the resident dance group of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Santo Tomas, Batangas Branch performing to entertain and bring distinction in different genres of dance, not only for the Tomasinong Iskolar's but also for other people as they compete outside the campus.
Teatro Batangan
Teatro Batangan is the premier theatrical and musical group of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Santo Tomas, Batangas Branch. "Teatro" as dubbed as one of the "Most Dynamic Non-Academic Organization", is performing also outside the campus and gives pride to the talents of a Tomasinong Iskolar.

Civic organizations are ones that has organised itself in order to improve life in society or community. Civic groups are mostly composed of self-help groups, civil societies and social movements.
