Plungington
Plungington is an urban district of Preston, England, to the northwest of the city centre. It is in an area now largely occupied by students attending the University of Central Lancashire at the end nearest the University. Historically, it was an area of working class terraced housing dating from the late 1880s. The origin of the name might derive from the undulating nature of the area, or, it could be eponymous as many of the nearby streets are names of persons.
Plungington Road changes its name to Adelphi Street when it crosses Aqueduct Street, most of Adelphi Street was demolished during the expansion of Preston Polytechnic when it morphed into the University of Central Lancashire.
