Peregrine (journal)

Peregrine: American Immigration in the 21st Century is an online journal published by the Hoover Institution as part of its Conte Initiative on Immigration Reform.[1][2][3] It is focused on understanding immigration to the United States and identifying optimal immigration policy for the contemporary United States. The journal is edited by economist Tim Kane and relies on contributions from Hoover's Working Group on Immigration Reform, co-chaired by Kane and Edward Lazear.[1]

History

The first issue of Peregrine, issue 1401, was published in late June 2014.[1] The inaugural issue included a contribution from University of Chicago financial economist John H. Cochrane that he republished on his own blog, and was picked up by many aggregators.[4][5][6][7]

Reception

The news release by the Hoover Institution about the launch was published on CNBC,[2] Herald Online,[8] and Immigration Angel.[9]

The launch was covered by economist Art Carden on EconLog, who concluded "I'm excited about this, and I really hope it moves the conversation forward."[3] Editor Tim Kane described the journal at the time of its launch in an article for Fox News.[10]
