The Penang State Assembly Building is the historical Penang's state administrative building. It is located between Light Street and Farquhar Street near Fort Cornwallis in George Town, Penang, Malaysia.[1]
History
The State Assembly building dates back to the early 19th century. The building once served as the Police Central Police Station, Recorder's Court, and the Magistrate's Court. An administrative block which serves as immigration office was built to the original structure in 1890 after its renovation in 1874.[1]
Architecture
This building encompasses Classical Greek and Palladian architecture, resembles Greek Temple with massive white colonnades supporting a large pediment.[1]
