Plot
Two students who first met at the University of Santo Tomas fall in love: Popoy (John Lloyd Cruz), an Engineering major, and Basha (Bea Alonzo), a freshman in Architecture. Popoy and Basha are inseparable and do everything together — eating, studying and attending parties. Both their families love them, they share mutual friends and eventually both end up working for the same firm. Naturally, everyone assumes that they will inevitably marry someday, with Architect Basha designing and planning their dream house while Engineer Popoy built it. Everything could not be more perfect. At least, that was what Popoy thought. He did not know that Basha was not as sure about their future as he was.
Popoy's nagging and excessive planning eventually takes a toll on Basha. Not only was she tired of trying to carve out her own mark in the hierarchy of the firm, but she also grew weary of Popoy always stepping in to fix things for her. One day, Basha tells Popoy that she wanted to move to a smaller firm where she would have better opportunities to design independently. She reveals the issue that had been brewing inside her for the past year: the real reason why she wanted to leave the company was that she was tired of Popoy and their relationship. That same night, Basha breaks up with Popoy, leaving him speechless and devastated.
Not knowing how to pick himself up after the love of his life left him, Popoy struggles to live his new life alone. Meanwhile, Basha follows through with her plans to resign from the firm. She drifted jobless for a while, doing freelance work designing T-shirts with unusual patterns and designs, until she was offered to work for a smaller firm. Accepting the offer, she began to feel the professional freedom she had been longing for. Popoy and Basha try to live without each other but the ties that bind them make it difficult for either of them to completely move on, especially when their families and friends constantly remind them of the promises and dreams they had made in the past.
. Although they continue to encounter each other, both Popoy and Basha try to respect the fact that they have separate lives now. But they soon realize they could not really move on. Trisha notices that Popoy was still in love with Basha, and she asks him if he still loves Basha. To her disappointment, Popoy answers that he cannot bear to see Basha hurt, but does not give a direct answer. Trisha decides to break up with Popoy.
Popoy and Basha both wanted to give their love one more chance, but because the timing was off, they decide not to. Popoy goes to Qatar, while Basha focused on her career. They eventually meet again after 2 years. Popoy asks Basha if she was free to go out for dinner that day, and Basha replies "Yes, and tomorrow night, and the night after that...". They both smile, and the film ends.

Legacy
Hailed by Filipino audiences as one of the most unforgettable Tagalog romantic movies of all time, the film has continued to be popular for its famous quotes and lines.
Because of this, a novel adaptation was released in June 2015.[3] Two months later, Star Cinema confirmed that a sequel to the film would be released.[4]
Sequel
Its sequel is titled A Second Chance which focuses on Popoy and Basha as a married couple.
