November 3, 2015. 23 year-old Oliver Bradwell was sentenced to 45 months in prison for the August 2014 attack of a newly wed couple.
The district attorney's report states on the evening of August 17, 2014, Bradwell attacked the couple at the International House of Pancakes on east Kellogg.
The district attorney's office gave this detailed account of the attack:
" Bradwell and 3 friends were sitting at a nearby table. Bradwell dropped an ID on the floor and Mrs. Galaviz-Hernandez picked it up to give back to Bradwell. Bradwell made a derogatory comment toward the woman. The woman’s husband overheard the comment and asked Bradwell to “show some respect.” Bradwell stood up and struck the victim, causing him to fall hitting his head on the floor. Galaviz-Hernandez woke up at Via Christi-St. Francis Medical Center where he received 5 stitches to his lip and 3 staples to the back of his head."
Police looked at the restaurant security video and recognized Oliver Bradwell, a documented gang member, as the man who struck the groom in the unprovoked attack.
On September 4, Bradwell pled guilty to one count of aggravated battery. Judge Ternes sentenced him on October 21st. As part of 36 months post release supervision, Bradwell was ordered to pay over $12,600 in restitution.(Courtesy KAKE News)
