Constantinos Porter North Morgan is a British Greek novelist, short story writer, and blogger based in Los Angeles. He is most known for his fictional blog, London Preppy and for his book Highlights of My Last Regret.[1]
Morgan's work is satirical and focuses on the lives of young people in urban settings. He writes exclusively in first person narrative.[2] In 2012, his debut novel, Exit Through The Wound was nominated for Polari First Book Prize.
Early life and education
Morgan was born in Athens, Greece, in 1980 and moved to England in 1998, where he graduated from Sheffield University with a degree in Business Studies in 2001. In 2002, he received a post-graduate degree in Marketing from Manchester University.[3][4]
Career
Morgan created the blog London Preppy in 2007 as a way of keeping in touch with friends after coming out. As the blog became more widely read, he stopped making it personal and created a fictional character, London Preppy.[3][5]
In 2010, he was approached to contribute a short story to the anthology Boys & Girls, compiled and edited by Paul Burston. His first novel, Exit Through The Wound, was published in 2011 by Limehouse Books. The story is presented as a first person account from the viewpoint of Maine Hudson, a 24-year-old Londoner, and focuses on his personal, professional and family relationships.[6] Burston, writing for TimeOut, called it "a seriously impressive debut."[3] The novel was shortlisted for the Polari First Book Prize in 2012, which led to The Independent calling him a "bitterly funny satirist.".[7]
Morgan's second novel, Highlights of My Last Regret, was published in 2014. The Independent called it "cold, snobbish, cruel...hilarious" and praised its "glitteringly alluring" prose.[2]
