Nikita Pavlychev (born March 23, 1997) is a Russian ice hockey forward who currently plays college ice hockey for Penn State of the Big Ten.[1] He was drafted 197th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Playing career
Pavlychev was a teammate of Philadelphia Flyers prospect Ivan Provorov on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights U16 team in Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) for the past two seasons prior to Penn State. Pavlychev registered 15 goals and 23 assists for 38 points in 100 games played. He drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the seventh round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
Collegiate career
Pavlychev spoke on why he chose Penn State and said: "I chose Penn State because The University will provide me with the best education and hockey experience to reach my goals in life.” When he made his decision PSU was ranked No. 7 in the country.
During his freshman year he collected his first collegiate goal and added a later assist for two points during a 7-0 victory over Mercyhurst. Pavlychev registered the opening goal during a 3-3 tie at No. 3 Notre Dame.
