New Mt. Zigana Tunnel
New Mount Zigana Tunnel (Turkish: Yeni Zigana Dağı Tüneli) is a road tunnel under construction located on the province border of Gümüşhane and Trabzon as part of the route between Torul, Gümüşhane in the south and Maçka, Trabzon in the north in Black Sea Region, Turkey.
Situated on the Mount Zigana of Pontic Mountains, with its length of 14,481 m (47,510 ft) in twin tubes, it will be the country's longest tunnel.[1]
It was built to bypass the Zigana Pass at 2,032 m (6,667 ft) elevation. It will shorten the route about 8 km (5.0 mi) and reduce the travel time to twenty minutes.[1][2]
