Nana Kwaku Bonsam (born 20 August 1973), whose name, 'Bonsam' translates literally as "Devil", is a well known Ghanaian witch doctor and fetish priest.[2][3][4]
Nana Bonsam gained international notoriety when he claimed to put a voodoo curse on the Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.[5][2][6] Before taking his present name, he was originally called Stephen Osei Mensah, a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the village of Afrancho. In 1992, when he was aged 19, he suffered extreme burns in a gas explosion, after which his life underwent a transformation.[4]
