Season chronology

The second season of My Name Is Earl originally aired from September 21, 2006 to May 10, 2007.[1] The season consisted of 23 episodes. The DVD was originally released on September 25, 2007. Its bonus material included deleted scenes, commentary tracks on selected episodes, as well as other features.

Unlike the previous season, there was a loose story arc, in which Joy steals a truck and accidentally kidnaps a man inside it. As this was her third strike, Joy faces life imprisonment, leading to her trial in the season finale.

7M Pictures gave the season 5 of 5.[3] DVD Town said the season was one of the funniest shows on television today, if, that is, you can get past the show's lack of political correctness and rated the audio 8 of 10, video also 8 of 10, extras 7 of 10 and the film value an 8 of 10.[4] All other reviews were mainly good.

Catalina sees how stressed out Earl is and takes back her job, saying, "When I jump, I jump for Earl; I would never jump for Joy."

With Joy's court date approaching, she prepares Darnell and her kids for their uncertain, possibly Joyless future. The episode parodies the movie Rudy, featuring Sean Astin (Rudy), Charles S Dutton (Fortune, the Groundskeeper) , and Chelcie Ross (Coach Devine).

Earl and Randy move out of the motel and get an apartment. Joy faces a life sentence in prison and Earl testifies as a character witness. Earl starts dating Ruby Whitlow (Marlee Matlin), Joy's deaf lawyer, when he still has a void in his life that an education and a job couldn't fill. As Joy was about to be locked away for life, Earl admits that "he" committed the crime so that Joy wouldn't go to prison. Sadly, the judge gives Earl a 2 year sentence, forcing him to lose Ruby, his job, his apartment, and his list.
