Muir Homes is one of the largest privately owned housebuilding companies of Scotland.[1] with headquarters in Inverkeithing, Fife.
It is part of the J. W. Muir Group, one of the country's leading property development companies, which specialises in timber-framed construction of houses and apartments.
History
A former joiner, John Muir, set up Muir Homes in 1973[3] after leaving his position as Managing Director of Scothomes, part of Scottish Homes.[4]
Operation
Muir Homes builds high quality properties across Scotland with developments in Aberdeenshire, Perthshire, Fife and Inverclyde.
The team focuses on innovation and development to remain at the forefront of the property industry, incorporating technology and materials from other parts of the business to build high quality homes efficiently, and in desirable locations.
Muir Group's other business interests includes a golf course, commercial property and a timber company.[5] In 2010, total staffing had reduced from a peak of 384 to 320 due to the recession.[2]
