Montefano is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Macerata in the Italian region Marche, located about 25 kilometres (16 mi) southwest of Ancona and about 13 kilometres (8 mi) north of Macerata. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,365 and an area of 34.1 square kilometres (13.2 sq mi).[1]
The municipality of Montefano contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Montefanovecchio and Osterianuova.
Montefano borders the following municipalities: Appignano, Filottrano, Montecassiano, Osimo, Recanati.
