The Mittersill mine is a large open pit mine located in Mittersill, in the Western part of Austria in Salzburg, 30 km South of Kitzbühel and 339 km South - West of the capital, Vienna. Mittersill represents the largest tungsten reserves in Austria having estimated reserves of 6.1 million tonnes of ore grading 0.5% pure tungsten.[1][2] The mine produces around 1,200 tonnes of tungsten/year.[2]
