Mission Hills Haikou is a golf complex currently under construction in Hainan, China. At 80 km2 (1.5 times the size of Manhattan)[1] and containing 22 golf courses and luxury hotels, it will be the second largest golf complex in the world.[2] The largest is the Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen.

The complex has been under construction since 2006, but stopped for several months during 2008 because of land disputes.[2]

Events

The complex hosted the 2010 Mission Hills Star Trophy and the 2011 Omega Mission Hills World Cup.[3]

The 2012 Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am began on October 19.[4] The purse was US$1 million.[5][6]

Other facilities

The complex is also expected to contain 12 world-class restaurants, a fully equipped sports and recreation centre, tennis courts, and an aquatic theme park, natural mineral springs, a spa, and a shopping arcade.[7]
