MiniTool Partition Wizard is a computer software for hard disk drive partition management originally made by MiniTool® Solution Ltd., the typical function is resizing the existing partitions. There are five different editions of this software: Home edition (Free for home users),[1] Professinoal edition[2] (with additional features such as convert primary/logical partitions, convert fat32 to NTFS, Change cluster size, allocate free space from one partition to another etc.), Server edition (for server Administrator) , Unlimited edition (aimed at companies with many computers) and Technician Edition (aimed at IT consulting company that provide technical services). The software embeds data protecting solutions such as power-off protection technology. The Home and Pro editions only support Windows PC operating systems including Windows 2000 and Windows XP, Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 or 10, both 32&64 bits. The other four editions also support Windows Server operating system including Windows Server 2003, 2008 (R2), 2012 (R2) and SBS 2011.
Advantages
This program consists of a list of useful functions on disk partition management.
- Basic Partition Management: Create, delete, format, lable partitions
- Advanced Partition Management: it is able to shrink, extend, merge and split existing partitions, change cluster size, align partition, wipe partition
- Basic Disk Management : Disk Clone and Migration help users to quick upgrade hard disk.
- Partition and Manage SD Card for Android device[3]
- Conversion: convert between FAT and NTFS, Basic and dynamic disk, MBR and GPT disk, Logical and Primary partition.
- Recovery and repair: repair damaged MBR, recover lost partitions.[4]
- Queues commands
Disadvantages
- No TRIM support.
- Some features are limited in free edition.
- Cannot lock volume in some conditions.
- Stuck at updating system information in some conditions.
- Costs too much time when partitioning a large disk drive.
- Major upgrades tend to be far less frequent in recent years
