Eureka Prizes
The winners of the 2015 Australian Museum Eureka Prizes together on stage at the Sydney Town Hall
The Australian Museum Eureka Prizes are annual Australian science prizes awarded in the fields of scientific research & innovation, science leadership, science communication & journalism and school science.
The finalists are announced each July and winners are announced at a Gala Dinner in August. The awards are presented by the Australian Museum in cooperation with the Australian and New South Wales governments and a range of organisations, companies and individuals.
Awards
The awards are decided upon by a panel of judges. The number and names of the awards have changed since they began in 1990. In 2015 17 prizes were awarded in 4 categories.[1]
Research and Innovation

- Excellence in International Scientific Collaboration, sponsored by Scopus

- Innovative Use of Technology, sponsored by the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation
- Outstanding Early Career Researcher, sponsored by Macquarie University
- Outstanding Science for Safeguarding Australia, sponsored by Defence Science and Technology Organisation
- Rural Innovation, sponsored by the Rural Research and Development Corporations
- Scientific Research, sponsored by the University of New South Wales
Leadership
- Emerging Leader in Science, sponsored by 3M
- Leadership in Science, sponsored by CSIRO
- Outstanding Mentor of Young Researchers, sponsored by University of Technology, Sydney
