Matt Everitt (born September 13, 1972 in Sutton Coldfield) is an English radio presenter. He currently works for BBC Radio 6 Music. He was a drummer for Britpop band Menswear and The Montrose Avenue in the 1990s.
Career
Music
Everitt replaced the original drummer of Menswear before their first release. They signed to London Records after their fifth gig for £90,000 and had five top 40 hits. Everitt left the band in 1996 to join The Montrose Avenue, they released one album and split in 2000.
Radio
Everitt began his career in radio in 2002 on XFM, where he presented various shows and documentaries.[1] He stayed with the station until 2007.
2007 saw Everitt join BBC Radio 6 Music, where he presented music news magazine show The Music Week for the next three years. He has since gone on to write and present The Music News and interview series The First Time With... [2] hosting shows with guests including David Gilmour, Yoko Ono, Michael Stipe, Noel Gallagher,[3] Lars Ulrich, Michael Stipe,[4] Pete Townshend, Elton John, David Lynch, Brian Wilson, Bjork, Quentin Tarantino and Dave Grohl.[5]
He appears daily on Shaun Keaveny's 6 Music Breakfast Show, presenting the Music News.[6][7]
He regularly features on television on shows including BBC News,[8] Sky News, Channel 5 and MTV as a music journalist. He also presents a Music News segment, currently on Thursday, during Ken Bruce's BBC Radio 2 programme.
Television
Everitt currently co-hosts Your Vintage with Liz McClarnon on British TV channel Vintage TV.[9]
Matt also acts as a music consultant for One More Music Company [10]
