Maryam Tarami is an Iranian-born actress and film producer.[1]

Early life and family

She was born in Teheran, the capital of Iran, on 29 January 1988. At a young age, Tarami relocated with her family to Europe and grew up in the Netherlands. From her early 20s, she moved to Miami and Los Angeles (to study at the Actors Studio) where she became fluent in English. She has one sister who is an entrepreneur.[2]

Career

After years of theater background, she appeared in movies like the Dutch love story Shame (2010) opposite Louis d'Or winner Joop Keesmaat and the Hollywood action movie Amsterdam Heavy (2011) starring Michael Madsen.

Three years later, Tarami also made her debut as a film producer. In an interview with The Arts and Entertainment Magazine she said that having worked behind the camera has enriched her as an actress, because she has obtained a better understanding of cinema. At the same time, she starred in numerous short movies such as The White Widow and Michelle for which she won her first acting Award. According to Tarami, she worked on these short movies to refine her acting instrument.[3]

On 21 September 2014, Tarami premiered the based on the real-life story "February in Oklahoma", where she received the Award of Best Lead Actress both at the Red Dirt International Film Festival and the 2015 Twister Alley Film Festival among several other nominations.[4][5] In February,Tarami portrays the role of a young woman in search for freedom in the Netherlands among colleague actor Armin Tashakoor.[6][7] As of autumn 2014 Tarami is currently working on the movie Four Words expected in 2015.[8]

Personal life

Tarami also has a passion for painting which she does as it is a part of her life. Besides her native Persian, she is fluent in English, Dutch and speaks basic conversational French and German.[9]
