Martie Salt is an American journalist and newscaster. She is best known for her long association with WFTV, the ABC station in Orlando, Florida, where she is the noon anchor.
Career as a broadcaster
She graduated from Florida State University and eventually landed her first broadcasting job at a small radio station in Melbourne, Florida. She joined WESH-TV in 1979 as a general assignment reporter, and switched to WFTV in 1981 initially working in the same position,[2] but a couple of years later, was promoted to anchor the midday and 5:30pm news, duties performed until 1994, when was offered a position by former newscaster and anchor Bob Jordan to join the new-born news department of WFTS-TV in Tampa.[3] She agreed, and presented the main evening news alongside Brendan McLaughlin until 2003, when she decided to return to Orlando and WFTV.[4] During this tenure, she helped Channel 9 remain number one on the supper and late hours, but in mid-2015, she was moved to the lunchtime slot due to the arrival of Martha Sugalski.[5]
Personal life
Salt was born in Kentucky, but she was raised in Florida. She is divorced from Paul Tucker[6] and together had a son, born in 1994.[7]
