Mark Dominik (born March 9, 1971)[1] is a former professional football executive and scout for the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL) from 1994 to 2013. Dominik joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after spending a year and a half working in both the college and pro personnel departments of the Kansas City Chiefs. In 1995, Dominik was named Pro Personnel Assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He moved up to Pro Scout, Coordinator of Pro Scouting and onto Director of Pro Scouting from 1997 to 2008. [2]Dominik succeeded Bruce Allen as General Manager on January 17, 2009.[3] Dominik held the position of General Manager from 2009 thru the 2013 season. Dominik during his tenure as General Manager with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was active in the military community. He was a finalist in the NFL's salute to service award in 2012. Dominik is currently an analyst for ESPN [4] where he is on SportsCenter, NFL Insiders, ESPN Radio and NFL Live. Dominik is a host on Sirius XM NFL Radio.[5] Born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Dominik holds a bachelor of science degree in sports management from the University of Kansas.

As Director of Pro Personnel, Dominik's duties included overseeing the scouting, recruiting and signing efforts of all NFL players, while also monitoring NFL transactions and overseeing player tryouts. He was also in charge of the pro personnel department's evaluation of players in all other professional football leagues, including the Canadian Football League and the Arena Football League, while being responsible for the negotiation and signing of contracts for several free agents and NFL Draft signings.Prior to the start of the 2001 season, Dominik began the first of his eight years as Director of Pro Personnel. In 2002, the franchise won its first world championship, a Super Bowl XXXVII victory over the Oakland Raiders.

General Manager

During the 2009 season, Dominik orchestrated the trade of DE Gaines Adams to Chicago.[6] Dominik and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers went through a youth movement, releasing veteran players as Derrick Brooks, Ike Hilliard and Warrick Dunn, as well as moving on from veteran players such as Joey Galloway and Kevin Carter. None of those players ever played in the NFL after leaving the organization. In the 2009 NFL draft Dominik selected QB Josh Freeman with the 17th pick in the 1st round. Freeman, in his career with the Buccaneers, is the all-time leader in Touchdown passes (80) in Buccaneer history and 2nd in total passing yards with 13,534.[7] In addition, Dominik selected DT Roy Miller (3rd round) and DC EJ Bigger (7th round) who are still active in the NFL entering their 7th NFL season respectively. The 2010 Draft class was highlighted by Pro-Bowler and All-Pro Gerald McCoy.[8] Prior to the season, Dominik signed Pro Bowl OT Donald Penn to a 6-year extension.[9] The Bucs had the youngest team in the NFL, with 30 players on the 53-man roster in their first, second or third years in the league,[10] It was the only season in which a 10-win Buccaneer team did not qualify for the playoffs.[11] The 2012 Draft class has seen both Doug Martin named to the Pro Bowl in his rookie season as well as 2nd round pick Lavonte David named 1st team AP in the NFL at the LB position. In 2012, Dominik signed WR Vincent Jackson in free agency for 5 years/$55 million.[12] Jackson has posted over 1,000 receiving yards every year he has been a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers In 2012 the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were 32nd in the NFL in pass defense allowing 297.4[13] In the 2013 offseason, Dominik signed free agent DS-Dashon Goldson [14](2x Pro Bowl) from the San Francisco 49ers. In addition, Dominik drafted DC-Jonathan Banks in the 2nd round of the 2013 NFL Draft.[15] Dominik made one of the biggest trades of the 2013 season which featured three teams trading 1st round draft picks for players. The Seattle Seahawks traded their 1st round pick for WR-Percy Harvin from the Minnesota Vikings. The Indianapolis Colts traded their first round selection for RB-Trent Richardson to the Cleveland Browns. Dominik traded their 1st round selection for AP/PB DC Derrelle Revis to the New York Jets. Dominik also signed Revis to a unique contract of 6yrs/$96M contract with no guaranteed money.[16] As a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Revis was named to the Pro Bowl for the 2013 season.[17] Revis has since been named to the Pro Bowl for the 2014 and 2015 NFL seasons. [18]

The Buccaneers had posted back to back 9-7 records in 2007 and 2008, but team ownership decided to fire GM Bruce Allen and hired Dominik as his replacement.
