Mariya Stadnik (Ukrainian: Марія Василівна Стадник; Mariya Vasylivna Stadnyk; born 3 June 1988) is a Ukrainian (until 2007)[1] and Azerbaijani (since 2007) female wrestler. She is a three-time Olympic medalist.

Personal life

Stadnik was born on 3 June 1988 in Lviv, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union. She is married to Ukrainian wrestler Andriy Stadnik. Her sister-in-law, Yana Rattigan, competes in the same weight category as Mariya.

Career

In 2006, Stadnik was disqualified for a period of one year for failing a doping test in 2006.[1]

Competing in the freestyle 48 kg weight class, she won gold at the 2008 European Championships in Tampere and bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.[2]

Stadnik went on to win gold at the 2009 European Championships in Vilnius, the 2009 World Championships in Herning, and the 2011 European Championships in Dortmund. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, she was awarded the silver medal.[3]

She won silver at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.[4]
