Marcus Aaron Robertson (born October 2, 1969) is a former American football safety in the National Football League, and currently the defensive backs coach for the Oakland Raiders. He has also coached defensive backs for the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans.
Playing career
Robertson was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the fourth round of the 1991 NFL Draft. He played college football at Iowa State.
Robertson was twice named a NFL All-Pro, in 1993 and 1997.
Coaching career
Robertson was the assistant secondary coach for the Tennessee Titans from 2007 to 2008, and the secondary coach for them from 2009 to 2011.
On February 13, 2012, Robertson was announced as the assistant secondary coach for the Detroit Lions. Robertson had previously coached with current Lions head coach Jim Schwartz and current Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham when both were assistants with the Titans.
Robertson was not retained by the Lions following the firing of Coach Schwartz and the team's failure to make the playoffs.
On February 3, 2014, Robertson was hired by the Raiders as an assistant defensive backs coach to Joe Woods.
On January 21, 2015, Robertson was promoted to Defensive backs coach under new head coach Jack Del Rio, during the off-season Roberson earned the endorsement of veteran player Charles Woodson.
