Majestic Princess is a ship in production by Princess Cruises. It is part of the Royal Class fleet and is a sister ship to Regal Princess and Royal Princess. She is scheduled to begin operating during the summer of 2017. Home-ported in Shanghai, it will be the first international vessel designated to exclusively serve the Chinese market year-round. The keel was laid on 10 July, 2015.[1] On October 9, 2015, the name, Majestic Princess was revealed and it was also announced that it will conjointly carry the Chinese name, 盛世公主号 (Shèngshì Gōngzhǔ Hào). An interpretation selected by Carnival PLC's China employees, which has the meaning of "Grand World" or "Grand Spirit".[2]

Her design includes "Movies Under the Stars" (the largest outdoor screen at sea), a multi-level piazza style atrium, glass-floor walkway which extends 8 meters beyond the edge of the ship and cuisine from Italy, France, North and South America, Southeast Asia, Japan and China.[3]

Production

The ship is being constructed at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. The vessel was launched on 8 February 2016.[4]

Maiden voyage

The Majestic Princess will begin her maiden voyage from Civitavecchia, Italy on April 4, 2017.
