Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College
Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College (MGM College) is an educational institute founded by T.M.A. Pai in 1949. It is located in the town of Udupi, Karnataka, India. MGM College is run by the Academy of General Education, Manipal. The college is divided into a Pre-university section and a degree college section. MGM College has a library, computer centre, and single basketball court.
The college started when there was no venue for higher education in Udupi. There were only two colleges in the South Canara district and both of them were in Mangalore.
The college offers degree programmes in the arts, commerce and science, as well as some short term diploma courses in German and computer science. The college has two research centres; one for Yakshagana and another is Govinda Pai research centre, which has done a Tulu lexicon project and published a Tulu dictionary. There is a regional resource centre for folk arts at the college campus.
