Madonna English School, (Hindi: मैडोना अंग्रेजी स्कूल) is a co-Educational private secondary school at Kathalbari and another branches at Laheriasarai and Allalpatti in Darbhanga a northern city of Indian state of Bihar. Madonna English School has affiliation with the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education, based in New Delhi.And It offers courses up to class 10th.[1]
History
The school was started by S M. Michael on 12 January 1977 in Alalpatti, darbhanga. Then the number of students was just 65. There were just five teachers. The classes ran from L.K.G. to 3rd standard. The school provided conveyance facility to its students through hired autos.The first school day function was celebrated on 8 December 1977.
In the year following the inception, the number of pupils shot to 270 and classes ran from L.K.G. till fifth standard. By the third year of its running, the school played host to 300 plus students and classes till seventh standard. By the fifth year, class eighth had been added. And instead of hired autos, the school had bought its very own three wheelers and four wheelers for conveyance. In ten years since 1977, Madonna had above 650 students. The school started taking admission on the basis of tests conducted. Soon it rose to acme as one of the pioneer English medium schools in Darbhanga. The teaching faculty consisted of teachers from various states and with considerable skills. In those days the other schools in darbhanga had timings of 9 am to 4 pm. Madonna brought a change in tradition by introducing early morning timings of classes from 7 am to 12 pm. Madonna also holds the distinction of being the first school in district to introduce computer education in school curriculum. The school started a brave entourage with three and then five computers in fully air conditioned computer laboratory
The journey
After two decades of service and making vital contributions to the futures of innumerable generations, a need was felt to expand the territory of Madonna. As such, a new branch was proposed in kathalbari, darbhanga. The land was bought in 1997 and the foundation stone of kathalbari branch was laid on 1 January 1998. By September, the ground floor was finished, and classes were commenced soon after it Madonna applied for an affiliation to icse board in 1999, and following an inspection by the board in 1999, affiliation was granted to the school in year 2000. In April 2000, the ninth standard was started. Two years later, in 2002, with just twelve students, the first batch of Madonna appeared in icse tenth board examinations. The second appearing batch had 20 students, and the third, 30.
Present day
Since March 2002, Madonna has constantly delivered at the icse boards, one batch appearing after another. It has grown into more than just a school. It has become a legacy. Madonna is a spirit that has achieved cult status in the hearts of the locals. Today, Madonna houses four branches in darbhanga, with a student capacity of more than 3000 students. The school boasts of 50 plus computers, well-furnished science labs, and a very rich library. The students of Madonna are taught not just to be thorough with books but are also inculcated with an ability to reach the solution of a problem at hand just by inquisitive nature. The environment in the school enhances strong teacher student bonding, and as such learning becomes fun.Since 2002 The number of students is increasing Each Year and in 2012 A total of 60 Students Appeared in The board exams of Std. 10th.
Infrastructure
Madonna English School Have three Branches In Kathalwari,Allalpatti And laheriasarai. The Kathalwari Branch Has Three Buildings: The Main School Building For Senior Classes, Madonna Pre-Primary For Kinder Gardens And Madonna Junior branch for junior Classes.
Apart From This The Kathalwari Branch has a Fourth Building which is 'St. Francis Hostel'. Madonna English School Provides Boarding Facilities For Boys Up to Std.10 In This Hostel.

The old school Uniform consisted of white shirt and white pants, with cross red tie and belt, rounded up with a red school badge and black shoes.
The New School Uniform Consists Of Brown Pants,Red Check Shirts,Yellow cross brown tie&Belts with black shoes And a Logo On the Pocket of the Shirt.
Wednesdays And Saturdays: School House T-Shirts Of Red, Blue, Green or Yellow colour, White Pants with Canvas shoes.
