Tai Poutini Polytechnic is a selection of campuses spread across New Zealand offering many different courses in tertiary education. The main campus is based in Greymouth on the West Coast region of New Zealand, but also incorporates the Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand (MAINZ) in Auckland and Christchurch; and the Training for Industry Centres also in Auckland and Christchurch.

Opening in 1990 in Greymouth, with only 90 students, it is now noted as one of the fastest growing polytechnics in New Zealand. Since then it has seen unprecedented growth and now has over 3000 students enrolled in various courses. A modern purpose-built facility has been built in Greymouth, while specialist campuses are also located at Auckland, Palmerston North, Hamilton, Christchurch, Reefton, Wanaka, Invercargill and Westport.

Programmes

Tai Poutini offers a range of mainstream and specialist programs which prepare graduates for careers.

Specialist outdoor education programs including ski patrol are well located in the South Island, and attract people from all over New Zealand.

The polytechnic's one and two year jade carving programs are unique to Aotearoa New Zealand, and are situated to make the most of Te Wai Pounamu, the source of west coast jade.
